Most of my posts are about pleasant things -- with the occasional rant about things that perturb me!

Modern Buddhism

I spent a beautiful, peaceful hour listening to Buddhist Monk Kelsang Norbu talk about Modern Buddhism.  It was informative and spiritual!    Too bad I am far too angry to ever adopt this lifestyle! :)

7 States in 2 Days!

I took a quick roadtrip (7 states in 2 days!) to Washington, DC and Arlington, VA.  I saw an exhibit at Artisphere in Arlington of Frida Kahlo: Her Photos, 240 images from her personal collection of over 6,500 photographs.  They had been in storage for more than 50 years and sealed until 2007. The images showed a rarely seen intimate side of the artist.  I then drove across the bridge into Washington to see the Cherry Blossoms, which were at peak bloom.  Unfortunately, the weather was so nasty and raining that I wasn't able to get out and walk among the beautiful trees.  Maybe next year!

Some cute horses talking to each other!

A beautiful sunset over southern Georgia.

These are just a couple of the amazing photographs
I saw both by and of Frida Khalo.

Baby Bald Eagle (with parents)

I was very excited today to finally see the eaglet.  I had been out to this eagle's nest on a couple of prior occasions, but only saw the adults.  Today, there was an adult on the nest, and one on the branch above the nest.  At that time, the eaglet was either sleeping or was way down in the nest.  In a few minutes, the adult on the branch flew into the nest, then flew out.  After that, the eaglet was visible.

This adult remained on the nest for a while.

This adult was on the branch above the nest.

Evenutally, both adults were on the nest.

Then, one adult flew to a nearby tree.

The eaglet is SO cute!

Folk Art Center (Blue Ridge Parkway)

This is a nice place to stop by and see if you are travelling on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville.  It's a beautiful center with all different kinds of folk art.  I took a few photos before I was asked not to (I didn't see the "no photos" sign).

Pisgah National Forest and Blue Ridge Parkway

My favorite forest.  It looks a lot different in March than it does in October when the leaves are full of fall colors.

I am used to seeing these trees full of orange and red leaves!

Blue Ridge Parkway

The magnificent Smoky Mountains

The day started out early with a hearty breakfast from the Mediterranean Restaurant in Ashevile.   Best breakfast EVER!
