Many months ago, this sweet pair of Mourning Doves

took up residence in my orchid house.

I guess they liked it so much, they decided to start a family here!
She didn't even bother to make a nest -
she just laid her 2 eggs in an orchid pot
I guess this is a face only a mother could love!

She rarely leaves her "nest", but when she did last night,

I took the opportunity to take a pic of the 2 little brats!

I just hope Taco the cat doesn't discover them!

FAIRCHILD TROPICAL GARDEN (Miami FL)

In honor of EARTH DAY today, Fairchild Tropical Garden admission was free!

The grounds at Fairchild are filled with plants,

waterfalls, birds and beautiful surroundings!

The babies were enjoying a nice day in their nest

This one seems a little restless!
He starts looking around
Eyes a branch up above
Then takes flight!!

He didn't go far at first - just to a branch above his nest

He then flew to another tree - still close to his nest

He took off again for another tree

Look at that huge wing span!

He stayed here a while. It won't be long before

he permanently leaves the nest
