Yellow-Crowned Night Heron Pair

This incredible pair of Yellow-Crowned Night Herons are both patiently waiting for their egg(s) to hatch.  The male waits right by his partner's side - not far away.  A beautiful sighting!

In the bird world, both parents do all the chores - they take turns.  So, I'm not sure if this is the female or male sitting on the nest, nor sure whether its the male or female standing nearby.

Carefully keeping watch.

This is such an awesome bird!

He politely (and firmly) was telling me . . . "don't come too close!"  (I didn't)
