It was a beautiful day today at Fairchild Tropical Garden. Everything is so pretty there, especially the butterfly garden!
In the butterfly garden, there are a lot of hummingbirds. If you are patient, you can see they quickly fly by the feeders and stop for a second. They don't stay on the feeders for long. I got exhausted just watching them!
This was an exotic orchid in the butterfly house. I think it was some kind of Lady Slipper, but that wasn't the name that was on it.
There are AWESOME orchids all over the Gardens.
I guess this is a cat who has moved into Fairchild. He was hiding in the bushes. (I hope someone is feeding him!)
Lots of critters!
Dragonfly
Spider
Rat. Ah, I mean squirrel.
Lizard.
The do something wonderful in the butterfly garden. Every 1/2 hour, someone comes out with new butterflies. Kids gather around, and she puts gently hands them to the kids to sit on their hand or arm. Kids seem to love this.
Fairchild is just a beautiful place to walk around and look at trees, flowers, outdoor art, butterflies and they even have a garden that is like a desert. There are so many pretty flowers and trees and little pathways to explore - even a couple waterfalls!
This was VERY interesting. A kooky tree, for sure.
It DID look like a cannonball!
These are the pods/flowers that are on the cannonball tree! Weird!
Desert Rose
There's always a nice outdoor art display at in the Gardens.
