The old Vagabond Motel was a Miami landmark in the 50s and 60s. It was in such disrepair and in a seedy neighborhood for a while. That area of Biscayne Boulevard is being revitalized, and someone bought the old Vagabond. They have redone it, but kept the original style - it is AMAZING. There was a grand reopening this past weekend where people were invited to see this beautiful, new hotel. The rooms are gorgeous - and the standouts are the floors; in some of the rooms are original terrazzo, and some have original hardwood. It is just a beautiful motel and I am happy to see it back in business (tho, you can no longer rent "by-the-hour"!).
Note the bottom right of the photograph. Across the street from the Vagabond, sits another Miami landmark - the 1957 original Coppertone sign. It has been in several places around Miami since the 50s - and now is at it's permanent home. It compliments the Vagabond sign!
The view when you walk out of your room!
These new doors to the rooms are gorgeous
The outside parking area. Security is very good here - you need a key for the entrances to the hotel.
LOVE that tile!
Look at that incredible hardwood - beautiful!
Such cool decor that keeps with the era
Beautiful original terrazzo floors in some rooms
