Memorial Day

While driving the Georgia Antebellum Trail, I came across the charming town of Gray.  As I passed this structure, I thought it was a church; but, it was actually the Jones County Courthouse*.  In front of it was a beautiful Veterans' Memorial, so I stopped and paid my respects.

Today is Memorial Day and we must not forget that the freedoms we all enjoy are because of the men and women in this country who serve in our Armed Forces.

This is a beautiful building!

I loved this elaborate Veterans' Memorial.

These beautiful bricks lined the floor and were engraved.  So meaningful and beautiful.

All wars are acknowledged.

I love this.

Such a beautiful place.  I am so glad I stopped here!

*The Jones County Courthouse was built in 1906 in the Romanesque Revival style.  It was designed by J.W. Golucke and is noted for its arched clock tower.
